24.09.05 League
FC Village 0 - 8 Woodchurch Rangers

September ended with a third league match and a second home game as the Village entertained the early league leaders in Woodchurch Rangers. Formerly the Arrowe Park the team for some reason has been placed in the third Division and by the end of the game it was evident that they would only be there for the one season and in truth should really be playing at a higher level. Having said that, as good as the Village were the week before they were equally bad this week. They were without several key players in Paul, Ritchie and Dava but saw the return to competitive football of Lowry and a debut for Danny Beattie. Had Booey not blazed an early opportunity wide then things may have been slightly different but once the first goals went in after 20 minutes or so they never were really in it. Gary then had a very similar chance to score but he did exactly the same thing and fired wide and the visitors scored another two before the interval to seal victory. The half time talk was of pride and a possible moral victory but no one took much notice and Woodchurch scored another four, could have added more and the Village were lucky in that it ended up as only 0-8. Their only real chance came when Booey was put clean through but instead of slipping the ball to the unmarked M.O.M Lowry he tried to chip the keeper only to send the ball straight in to his open arms. That about summed up this display. Must do better next time.
